Postdoctoral Researcher

About Tessares

Tessares, a spin-off of  Université catholique de Louvain, is specialized in technologies around Multipath TCP. Three of the Tessares’  founders contributed to both the standardization process at the IETF and the reference implementation in the Linux kernel. Tessares currently focuses on the commercialization of bonding solutions that allow network operators to efficiently combine xDSL and 3G/4G networks, and wishes to expand its portfolio.

What you’ll do

As a researcher you will identify, design and prototype new use cases that leverage Multipath TCP. Your innovation will be the foundation of future Tessares products. For this you will have to interact with the various standardization bodies in order to ensure that the Tessares vision is inline and followed. You will be based in Louvain-la-Neuve, South of Brussels, the capital of Europe but will have many opportunities to travel.

In that mission, Tessares will help you with the following assets :

  • The experience: You will work closely with key contributors to the Multipath TCP protocol who will help you in your tasks.
  • The team: Tessares is full of ideas and interesting research projects.
  • Yourself: As a recent start-up, we will be eager to receive input from you and strive to reach ever more ambitious objectives. Together.

Your experience

You need to hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent (4 years of research experience) in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or a closely related field. You have a good publication record and master TCP/IP protocols is a must. You also need to be fluent in English, both written and spoken. You have excellent C programming skills. As a researcher you will closely interact with the developers of the Multipath TCP implementation in the Linux kernel, so experience in kernel development will be considered a plus.

Do you feel Tessares compatible ?

In a start up, it is important that the team has cohesion, with each collaborator nicely complementing others, while still sharing Company values. We use an agile framework (with continuous integration, automated testing, peer reviews). You will have frequent interactions with other specialists, and will enjoy varied activities. During your activities you will be able to travel around the world and meet with our customers from Europe and outside.

In addition to providing a motivating working environment, we offer an attractive salary package in accordance with your seniority level.

We expect you to join Tessares in September 2016.
